NICUTracer Breast Milk Identification System
The NICU Tracer Breast Milk Identification System has been developed to prevent feeding errors that can pose significant health risks to infants through the transmission of bacterial or viral infections such as hepatitis. Feeding errors can also expose a hospital to financial and legal liabilities.
If a feeding error occurs, the baby and "accidental" mother may be required to have blood tests for as long as one year; additional staff, management and physician time may be required to remedy the problem; and litigation may result over the transmission of a life-threatening infection. The NICU Tracer Breast Milk Identification System is the latest addition to Children's Medical Ventures' offering of Safety Solutions intended for the NICU, PICU and emergency department settings.
